Specimen Bowie
Note. Specimen of the typeface Bowie. Copyright by Latinotype.

The name of this typeface comes from the last name of James (Jim) Bowie, an American pioneer and inventor of the famous Bowie knife. This is exactly what inspired the English rock star David Jones to change his stage name to David Bowie. Bowie is the new typeface from Bercz and the Latinotype Team. It is a typeface system that reflects a strong personality, an urban vibe, and an open-minded style. Bowie is ideal for editorial projects, branding, and packaging. This typeface family consists of three sections: a group of sharp-edged all-capital fonts (small caps and all-caps) in 5 weights, each with its corresponding regular/backward oblique italic, offering users 15 different styles for multiple combinations; a set of written keywords and eclectic collections of dingbats and flags that convey the project’s blue-sky vision and feel. Bowie, a collaborative project between Bercz and the Latinotype Team, was developed by Leonidas Loyola, Valentina Vega, Rodrigo Fuenzalida, César Araya, and Bruno Jara, under the supervision of Dany Berczeller, Daniel Hernández, and Luciano Vergara. Bowie consists of 5 weights, ranging from Thin to Black, and comes with a character set of 439 characters compatible with 206 languages.
