The Suave Script typeface family is an exercise in historical revival based on calligraphic lettering manuals from the 1950s. Unlike traditional continuous cursive scripts, this design is based on a disconnected calligraphic style, whose form evokes the fluidity and dynamism of mid-century Latin American urbanism. While the uppercase characters feature a playful and rhythmic structure—reminiscent of the visual syncopation found in musical genres such as tango or candombe—the lowercase characters are characterized by an organic fluidity and visual cohesion that evoke the fluidity of hand-drawn strokes. This typographic “gem” not only captures the aesthetic of an era but also projects it into the contemporary world as a human and expressive design tool.
