Darka is a splendid and mysterious dark lady reincarnated in digital vectors as an original black letter font. Her gothic, medieval and nocturnal attributes take the form of sharp terminals, seductive curves, calligraphic style and complex character. Darka combines the balance of Textura, the fluidity of Fraktur and the elegant lowercase to uppercase ratio of Bâtarde in an elegant and witty typeface with a Mexican soul. Darka, which began as a personal calligraphic hand, slowly evolved into a digital type, developing alternative glyphs, flourishes and special signs to preserve its handwritten origins and delicate stress, making it an excellent display type and, surprisingly, even a distinctive, crisp font for short texts. Darka received an award for excellence in the Type Directors Club of New York's annual Type Directors Club competition.
