Arrieta is a versatile typeface family designed to serve a variety of design purposes. It combines the traditional process of mechanical typeface creation—using engraved typefaces—with the expressive strokes of a pen, resulting in a reliable, angular typeface.
According to legend, Arrieta was created by a type engraver known for his aversion to cutting curves due to his laziness. As a result, his primary goal was to preserve the texture of the Old Styles series, originally designed by Alexander Phemister, while incorporating fewer curves into the design.
