What comes to mind when I say “Architype,” “Geometric,” “Gaelic,” and “Uncial”? An impossible combination of features? A set of tastes as unrealistic as your music playlist? Or part of a joke told by your favorite comedian? Don’t worry—just keep in mind that it is possible.

Gallos combines the conceptual and historical elegance of Uncials with the practical rationalism of the geometric style. In addition, this typeface consists of two subfamilies: Gallos Uncial and Gallos Architype. The letters “M,” “N,” “W,” “a,” “m,” “n,” “r,” and “w” differ between these two variants.

The first (Uncial) reflects both styles: the appearance of Uncial script, featuring the slanted “a” with a closed stem, and the classic geometric style, with the more conventional uppercase and lowercase “m” and “n.”

The Architype model is inspired by Paul Renner’s Architype; thus, the slanted “a” has an open counterform, the “r” consists of a stem and a dot, and the rest of the letters mentioned were constructed with square, rational strokes.

Both typefaces are linked by classic Uncial characteristics, such as the curved stroke of the “e” and the curved stem of the “t,” as well as Gaelic touches visible in the uppercase and lowercase “K” and “X.” In addition, the curved descenders of the “g” and “y,” along with the curved stem of the “z,” integrate perfectly with the rest of the system and lend great uniqueness to the Gallos typeface family.

Without further ado, we say:

Let’s make Unciales popular again!
