The Tinkuy pattern system is a sophisticated visual interpretation of the Quechua concept of “the meeting of opposing yet complementary forces.” The result of Vanessa A. Zúñiga Tinizaray’s research for the Crónicas Visuales del Abya Yala project, this work is not a mere digitization of ancestral motifs, but rather a semiotic reconfiguration of the symbols found on archaeological artifacts from Andean cultures. Academically, Tinkuy functions as a point of convergence where ancestral thought and contemporary mobilization materialize in a graphic language of change. It is a tool that invites reflection on identity, using design as a space for the confrontation and synthesis of diverse interests and aspirations.
