The "Galán Sans" typeface seeks to create a middle ground between function and aesthetics by creating a more fluid journey of curves with oblique cuts in its upper and lower cuts, straight vertices, high lowercase, homogeneous stroke, high typographic color and more condensed counterforms, inspired by the "expressive grotesque" of the neo-expressionist artist from northern Mexico, Julio Galán, who was part of the plastic neo-Mexicanism. Galán's work takes up nationalism, Mexican ideals free of idealization, taken to a reality that touches on drama, humor, sarcasm, the everyday and his own vanity; with thick strokes, opaque colors and deep questioning of the "I" that are an essential part of his work: values that contrasted with the artistic context of the moment.
