Specimen Pigeonette
Note. Specimen of the typeface Pigeonette. Copyright by Tortilla Type Machine.

The Pigeonette typeface, with a pronunciation that evokes French even if it is false, has been designed specifically for writers working with words. Merging the fluidity of handwriting with the charming quirkiness of typewriters, this not entirely monospaced typeface offers a comfortable reading texture. With an approachable character ideal for all stages of the writing process, from first drafts to meticulous proofreading, Pigeonette features a modest palette of three styles: regular, bold and italic. These styles make it easy to highlight problematic notes or sections, as well as to identify diacritics and punctuation clearly and easily. In addition, it includes a placeholder squiggle that can be activated by typing more than two consecutive underscores.

Pigeonette will soon become a full font family with support for most Central European languages. A Cyrillic version with the same relaxed attitude is also in development, which will include support for Bulgarian alternate characters. In addition, improvements to Markdown writing support and the implementation of writer-specific features are planned, so stay tuned for future updates. It's worth mentioning that Pigeonette originated as Pigeon, a graduation project developed during my master's program in Typography and Media at KABK in The Hague.
