Mayahuel is a typeface that emerges from the tradition of hand lettering, where the trained hand gesture finds a balance between writing and drawing. Its structure is nourished by the Roman heritage, reinterpreting its formal principles from the calligraphic practice: the stroke that advances from the inside out with the pen and the one that is built from the contour with the pencil dialogue to give rise to a coherent and expressive system of forms. This process of feedback between two ways of doing -writing and drawing- gives the family a distinctive character, capable of renewing what is known without losing its historical roots.
