According to the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy, “canturía” is the act of singing and a way of performing musical compositions.

The Canturiana typeface (derived from “canturía”) has a romantic and musical feel, as well as a distinct sensuality thanks to its sinuous design. The curves seduce us, captivate us, and mesmerize us, and the letters take on a striking lightness and a very earthly presence that is complemented by a certain ethereal and spiritual expressiveness.

Canturiana Type is inspired by Canterbury, a typeface designed in the 1920s by the legendary American type designer and engineer Morris Fuller Benton and published by American Type Founders (ATF). Canturiana Type draws on this entire legacy and transforms it into a fully functional digital typeface adapted to 21st-century visual communication. Its elegant Art Deco essence gives it a unique and unconventional character that works across a wide range of media, endowing them with distinction and depth.

The creative process behind Tipo Canturiana has undergone various transformations to the point that each stage of its creation has left its mark—a multifaceted imprint that makes it unique, singular in its essence, and diverse in its possibilities. As a result, Tipo Canturiana expresses itself through multiple voices without any deviation from its core essence. A conceptual ambiguity that makes it truly versatile. Canturiana Type is a typographic chorus, a complex entity possessing infinite nuances and tones. Classic

and brilliant. Disruptive and romantic. Literary and musical.

Canturiana Type consists of 5 weights and features a large number of bars, alternate characters, ligatures, and various visual elements for creating compositions such as headlines or for use in short texts. Canturiana Type features over a thousand glyphs and supports a wide range of languages that use the Latin alphabet.
