"Xóchitl" was inspired by handmade signs that are used during the fairs and celebrations that take place in Xochimilco, Mexico City. These signs are hand drawn by people to label flowers in the markets, ice cream and traditional sweets during the fairs. The words they label come in a wide range of different lengths, sometimes they have to fit on a cardboard of the same size, or other times they have to fit the size of cardboard they can find. This project was born looking for legibility in different sizes without losing the artisanal or cultural feeling they traditionally have. With special focus on highlighting the strength that these letters have and be recognizable.
