Señal is a typeface created for signage on Mexican highways. The original design was developed to create a typeface family that could be used as body text. Currently composed of 8 styles: Rural, Rural Itálica Nacional, Nacional Itálica Mediana, Mediana Itálica Asfalto, Asfalto Itálica Chapopote, Chapopote Itálica and the original design called Señal Urbana.
Regular box typography, and soft contrasts. Based on series 2 and 3 of the Manual of devices for highway signage in Mexico. Designed to be used in signage, where legibility is an indispensable factor. The emphasis in its terminations is intended to facilitate the identification (reading) of the letter, therefore of the word. Enlarged to text version.
