Elle Hairline and Elle Superhairline are two typeface families developed by Óscar Yáñez on behalf of Ernesto Moncada, art director of Elle magazine. Designed for large-format applications -covers and openings-, both versions explore the extreme limit of line thinness, offering an ethereal and sophisticated presence on high-resolution images. The design of its sans serif characters features a refined geometric structure, where the virtually imperceptible stroke line requires negative interline spacing to enhance its contrast on photographic backgrounds. While Elle Hairline balances legibility and finesse, Elle Superhairline takes this idea to the extreme, proposing an even more subtle alphabet that defies the limits of visibility and reinforces the editorial character of the publication.
