The Candombe typeface family represents a sophisticated exploration of how to translate percussive rhythm into calligraphic form. Named in honor of Uruguay’s Afro-Uruguayan musical heritage, the typeface captures the essence of the drum through a vibrant and playful brush-like structure. From an academic perspective, Candombe stands out for its ability to transform the energy of movement into a cohesive system of signs; its forms not only convey textual content but also “dance” with one another, establishing a visual dialogue that evokes youthful joy and a festive spirit. It is a design piece that celebrates spontaneity as an agent of cultural identity and graphic dynamism.
