The Plethora typeface family represents an in-depth exploration of late 19th-century ornamental typefaces, specifically the work of Julius Herriet for the Bruce Type Foundry in New York. The system revives and expands upon the “Old Style Ornamented” concept, where the inclusion of top tails allows for organic interconnectivity between characters. What was originally a limited ornamental experiment has been transformed by Sudtipos into a polyphonic typographic ecosystem. Plethora not only revives a historical aesthetic but also imbues it with a contemporary logic through the creation of complex ligatures and a systemic structure that celebrates an abundance of detail as a response to digital minimalism.
