Specimen Satira Display
Note. Specimen of the typeface Satira Display. Copyright by Sergio Trujillo.

This multi-script typeface family is designed for editorial purposes (satirical journalism). Its generous x-height, short ascenders and descenders, and narrow proportions are ideal for space-saving situations in typographic compositions. Certain idiosyncrasies such as serif construction, angular cuts, round terminals and a slight swelling of the shoulders, give the design a firm and peculiar character. These idiosyncrasies have been exaggerated in the display version with the intention of increasing its visual impact. The family is composed of seven weights, which provide the necessary spectrum for a complex typographic hierarchy. It also covers four different alphabets: Latin, Greek, Cyrillic and Tai-Ahom, which was the writing system used by the rulers of the Indian state of Assam from the 13th century until the establishment of British rule in 1838.
