Sonotipo is an experimental typography developed by Manuel Guerrero and Alfonso Alba, with antecedents in the Deconstructa project (2006). Their proposal focuses on the transformation of the letter from the sound, through a generative system programmed in Processing.
The application analyzes the audio in real time -considering the power and the frequency spectrum- to distort a typographic grid: the power affects the columns and the spectrum the lines. This allows the shape of the characters to react dynamically to different sound stimuli.
The project is part of the exploration of reactive typography and data visualization, and includes export options in formats such as GIF, TIFF, SVG and video.
