Economista is a typeface family designed by Gabriel Martínez Meave for the business newspaper El Economista. Its conception harmoniously integrates formal resources derived from the baroque tradition, the geometric purity of neoclassicism and the refined lines of modernism, resulting in a repertoire of glyphs that simultaneously express elegance and functionality.

The contrasts in thickness between strokes show a baroque influence in the serifs, whose tails and finials boast delicate curved terminals that add sophistication to the elevation. At the same time, the general structure of the letters is governed by neoclassical proportions, with a balanced vertical axis and a moderate modulation that facilitates reading in continuous text environments. The modernist air emerges in the cleanness of the curves and the precision of the spacing, optimized to ensure uniform typographic color both in print and on screen.
