Khaleej was designed following an evolution of the newspaper's design, when creative director Roberto Canseco requested the development of an alphabet specifically for identity uses related to the publication. Oscar Yáñez was in charge of designing this typeface, which derives from the newspaper's masthead, which had undergone a design adjustment in 2014. The font was conceived with a variable weight, incorporating some alternative characters, particularly in the case of the letter /j/, to adapt to the stylistic and functional needs of the newspaper.
