Specimen See Words
Note. Specimen of the typeface See Words. Copyright by University of Cincinnati.

The SeeType typeface, developed by Frida Medrano as part of the See Words: Anywhere project, represents an innovative fusion between typographic design and educational technology. This digital reading system, originated at the University of Cincinnati, has as its main objective to facilitate the learning of English phonics through an interactive and multisensory experience.
eeType is based on variable font technology to represent the 44 sounds of the English language. Each glyph in the font is designed to transform into visual icons that evoke words associated with the corresponding sound. For example, when interacting with the letter "p"pig" or "penguin", helping the reader to visually and aurally associate the /p/ sound with the sound ".
