In 2007, Christian Schwartz began his collaboration with Duplicate, conceived as an experiment intended to challenge the limits of his creativity. Motivated by interviews with musicians who emphasized the importance of playing music from memory and the experience of stumbling over his signature sound when making mistakes, Schwartz wondered what would happen if he applied a similar process to Roger Excoffon's iconic Antique Olive, a typeface that had captivated him for years. This initiative gave rise to a new sans serif typeface family with its own identity, which later expanded into five related families in collaboration with Miguel Reyes: Sans, Slab, Ionic, Soft and Round.
