Alfa Slab One is a contemporary version of the six-line Egyptian Pica, created by Robert Thorne for the Thorowgood type foundry in 1921. Although initially based on that model, Alfa Slab One was designed with an extreme black weight, large serifs, greater black contrast, and graduated terminals with a single serif. All these features give Alfa Slab One a contemporary appearance with extreme black density.
