The Salamat typeface family marks a milestone in Joluvian’s development, representing a technical evolution from its foundational work, Zulia Pro. The result of an exhaustive experimental phase following a visual research residency in the Philippines, Salamat transcends gestural sketching to become a highly sophisticated system of humanistic-expressive calligraphy. The design is based on the optimization of morphological variables, incorporating a vast library of ornamental capital letters (swash capitals) and contextual ligatures that enable dynamic composition. Academically, the typeface stands out for its balance between the freedom of hand-drawn strokes and the precision of digital design, offering users unprecedented versatility in creating stylized blocks of text and complex visual hierarchies.
