Fulgora is a calligraphic typeface conceived as the digital extension of a personal style traced directly with pen on paper, where fantasy acts as the creative axis. Its design is inspired by a fusion of graphic traditions: the Gothic Bâtarde and Civilité styles of the late Middle Ages, the Kannada and Sinhalese writing systems of southern India, Celtic uncials and various Mexican vernacular scripts. Each character was drawn without retouching and then vectorized, maintaining the manual texture and imperfections of the calligraphic gesture. The spacing and kerning were carefully worked to preserve in the digital environment the natural finish of handmade calligraphy. The family consists of two variants: White and Black, executed with nibs of different thickness but with the same style and proportions. Originally designed in 1995, Fulgora proposes an expressive synthesis between handcrafted handwriting and digital typographic design.
