Matria Script is a typeface designed at the request of the Mexican experimental artist Fernando Llanos, with the purpose of accompanying the graphic identity of the documentary Matria (2014).
The typeface design is inspired by the popular Mexican graphic tradition, taking as a reference the ornamental script style letters found on signs, fairs and elements of the visual imaginary associated with the world of the charro and cowboy. This typographic reinterpretation seeks to capture the folkloric and artisanal essence of these vernacular forms, giving them a contemporary and functional presence.
