Gotta began as Marcela Aguilera’s final project for the Master’s in Typographic Design at the EINA School (Autonomous University) in Barcelona.It is an interpretation of the Scotch Roman style, incorporating various Modern and Transitional influences to create a visually striking hybrid and, at the same time, a highly legible typeface family for editorial use.It includes practical features such as small caps and alternate characters, and the italics stand out for their strong calligraphic flair.The final, completed version of the typeface was produced in 2023 under the expert guidance of Josema Urós and Laura Meseguer of Type-ø-Tones, who were the instructors who originally guided the project and are now the distributors of Gotta.
